From January 1, 2023, every retailer selling tobacco products must obtain a tobacco retail license. The retailer must start business on July 1, 2022 to apply for a license, which is non transferable.
The law prohibits pharmacies from selling tobacco products and retailers from advertising these items within 500 feet of schools, parks, libraries or youth centers. According to the county staff, retailers must also maintain a five foot buffer between candy, snack and non-alcoholic beverage displays and tobacco product advertising.
